Dr. Dean R. Yates is a lifelong Panola County resident and a 1979 graduate of Carthage High School. He attended Texas A & M University and graduated in 1988 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. In 1989, Dr. Yates opened the doors to Carthage Veterinary Hospital to serve Panola County patrons and their animal health needs. Dr. Yates is an avid outdoor sportsman. His passion for wildlife and his innovative drive motivated him to develop and patent the NoLimit Deer/Wildlife feeder. In his free time, he enjoys his family and raises cattle. Dr. Yates and his wife, Shelley, have seven children and seven grandchildren.
Laurie Landreneau is our longest-tenured veterinary technician and she doubles as our clinic manager. She is a Louisiana native who moved to East Texas two years ago when she joined Carthage Veterinary Hospital. Laurie holds a Bachelor's degree in Equine Science from McNeese State University, and in December 2016 she will receive her Master's degree from McNeese. Laurie and her husband live in Deadwood, spending their free time with family and their pets and farm animals. Laurie enjoys hiking and camping occasionally and her daily workouts, and at work she enjoys diagnostics, radiology, and meeting the specific needs of each and every client.
Liz is our excellent resident groomer, with 20 plus years of experience. She also was voted the best groomer in Panola County in 2015. She grooms at the clinic on Monday and Tuesday, appointments can be made with one of our receptionists. Liz is the loving mother of three beautiful girls and grandmother to six. Horseback riding, bicycling, and hiking are just a few of the hobbies that she enjoys doing in her spare time.
Angel is a receptionist here at Carthage Veterinary Hospital and also the Carthage Panola Pound Manager. Raised here in Carthage, Texas, she graduated from Gary High School in 2013. She then attended college through the University of Phoenix, where she obtained an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice. Angel has always handled animals while growing up and now has several years of experience in the animal medical field. When Angel is not here at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family, hunting, and working with her dogs and horses.
Michael Mize is a veterinary technician at our clinic. He is currently a junior at Beckville High School, where he is actively involved in the National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, and baseball. He is also enrolled in the certified veterinary assistant program at BHS. After graduation, he plans to attend Texas A&M University, where he wants to study veterinary medicine. In his spare time he enjoys being with his family, friends, and his adopted dog, Sheldon.
Shellie Lummus is a veterinary technician at our clinic. She is from Orangefield, Texas and graduated from Orangefield High School in May 2016. She moved to Carthage to study dental hygiene at Panola College. She enjoys working with animals and learning new things here at the clinic! During her off time she enjoys playing basketball and being with family and friends.
Kaysee Broussard is a veterinary technician at our clinic. A native of Gary, Texas, Kaysee graduated from Gary High School in 2013. She is currently attending Panola College and plans to transfer to Angelina College to study radiology. Kaysee enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and also appreciates spending time with her family.
